Guwahati, 2 June (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Shishu Sahitya is a mirror of the society. It gives direction to the mental and intellectual development of children and deepens their thinking in understanding the society. He said that many eminent litterateurs have contributed to enriching children's literature in Assam.

The Chief Minister informed on Monday that yesterday revered Prafulli Talukdar presented him a copy of her book 'Shishu Sahitya Samagra'. He described this literature as very valuable for children and said that this book will definitely prove to be an invaluable heritage for them.

The Chief Minister thanked the author and appealed to the parents to inspire the children to read such literature, which can help them in their mental and creative development.
