Bhubaneswar, 19 June (H.S.): On the occasion of World Sickle Cell Day, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi highlighted the state's pioneering efforts in combating sickle cell disease and thalassemia. Odisha has become the only state in the country to identify both sickle cell and thalassemia through a single screening sample — a breakthrough in diagnostic efficiency.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister called upon citizens to actively spread awareness about sickle cell disease and contribute towards achieving the goal of a Sickle Cell-Free India by 2047, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Let us work together towards building a healthy, empowered, and prosperous Odisha,” he added.
