Mumbai, 19 June (HS): The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast
very heavy rains with strong winds from June 19 to 22 in many parts of
Maharashtra. Warning of very heavy rains in Raigad, Palghar, Thane, and
Ratnagiri districts. The Raigad authorities have directed to keep the school closed
during the period. Some parts of Mumbai are likely to get heavy rains.
Konkan, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha
regions will get rains I different forms.
Mumbai and Pune started getting rain since Thursday
morning. The local train traffic has slowed down posing problems for the
commuters. An Orange Alert has been issued for Mumbai, which is likely to get
rains up to 70 mm on Thursday.
Very heavy rains have been predicted on June 19 in Pune,
Satara, Kolhapur, and Nashik, and medium to heavy rains are expected during the next three
days. Nashik is likely to face a storm. Lightning and with light to medium
rains in Marathwada and Central Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar, Solapur, Sangli,
Satara, Pune, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Latur, Nanded,
Hingoli, Parbhani have been predicted.
In the Vidarbha region heavy rains, strong winds, and
lightning have been predicted in Akola,
Amravati, Nagpur, Wardha, Yavatmal, Gondia, Bhandara, Gadchiroli, and Washim
districts.
The farmers, residents of the hilly region, and on the
banks of rivers have been asked to remain alert.
