Lucknow,
18 June (HS): The Uttar Pradesh BJP Minority Morcha said on Wednesday that the
party will soon undertake a state-wide campaign to guarantee appropriate
transmission of information about the impending caste-based census,
particularly among the Muslim minority. It urged Muslims to disclose accurate
caste information while filling out census forms and not misleading by clerics
or opposition figures who reportedly encourage people to claim their faith
rather than caste.
We
will soon begin a state-wide campaign to guarantee correct transmission of
information about the impending caste-based census, particularly among Muslims,
according to UP BJP Minority Morcha president Kunwar Basit Ali Ali, who
describes the initiative as historic and revolutionary.
Until
recently, Muslims have been classified solely as a religious group, concealing
the community's significant social and economic diversity. This caste census will uncover the true
status of distinct Muslim castes, allowing for more effective policymaking and
social fairness. The BJP spokesman said that certain extreme religious leaders
are attempting to mislead Muslims by urging them to write 'Islam' instead of
'caste,' which he said would negate the exercise's goal. This is a caste
census, not a religious census, he explained. Ali stated that caste is a
cultural construct, not a religious one, and urged Muslims to resist such
disinformation attempts.
He
pointed out that around 85% of India's Muslim population is made up of Pasmanda
(backward and marginalised) communities, which stand to profit considerably
from caste census data. Ali criticized the opposition Samajwadi Party, Bahujan
Samaj Party, and Congress of previously misled the Muslim community. But this
time, Muslims have seen through their deception and are gathering behind Prime
Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he claimed. Ali
stated that the BJP Minority Morcha will ensure that all households in the
state receive accurate caste census information.
He
also stated that there are plans to launch a large digital campaign geared at
youth outreach, which will instill a sense of nationalism among Muslim youth. The
Muslim community's enthusiasm for this census will be obvious. The BJP is dedicated to the empowerment of
all marginalized populations, and this is a significant step toward inclusive
growth, he stated. Sixteen years after the previous census in 2011, the
government on Monday submitted a notification to conduct India's 16th census,
which would include caste enumeration in 2027.
