Kolkata, 18 June (H.S.)

A FIR has been lodged at Bidhannagr police station against the film Kesari Chapter 2 streaming on Jio Hotstar, alleging of historical distortion. The complainant, Ranjit Biswas, a resident of Bidhannagar South area, claimed that the film inaccurately portrays revolutionaries Khudiram Bose and Barindra Kumar Ghosh in a courtroom scene related to the Muzaffarpur Conspiracy Case, renaming them Khudiram Singh and Birendra Kumar from Amritsar. He argued that this misrepresentation insults Bengal’s freedom fighters, particularly Khudiram Bose, who was executed, and Prafulla Chaki, who died by suicide. Biswas further contended that these inaccuracies spread misinformation and could incite linguistic and regional discord.

The police have registered a case under sections 352 (intentional insult), 353(1)(c) (public mischief), and 353(2) (circulating false statements) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and initiated an investigation into the matter.
