Jhargram, 18 June (H.S.): A bus full of passengers went out of control and overturned in a ditch in the Guptamani temple area of Jhargram district on Wednesday morning. A female passenger died in this incident while 29 passengers including the driver were injured, out of which two are in critical condition.

According to police sources, the deceased has been identified as Basanti Mahato, a resident of Gajsimul area of Jhargram rural block.

As per information, the passenger bus was going from Gopiballavpur to Kharagpur on Wednesday morning. As it was raining since morning, the road was wet. A motorcycle suddenly came in front of the bus in the Guptamani temple area. While trying to save the bike rider, the bus lost control and overturned in a ditch on the side of the road. Local people reached the spot as soon and the police was informed. The people of the area started the rescue work first. The passengers trapped inside the bus were taken out one by one. The police of Manikpara outpost reached the spot. The injured were sent to Jhargram Medical College and Hospital.The condition of two of the injured passengers is said to be critical. Later, the bus was pulled out of the ditch.
