Lucknow,
18 June (HS): Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), criticized
the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday for holding a normal police
recruitment campaign that was overhyped. She questioned if all communities were
fairly represented, as well as the quality and future of recruit training. Recent
police recruitment in Uttar Pradesh has been depicted as if something
spectacular has been accomplished, whereas, in truth, such recruiting efforts
are part of normal administrative work to minimize backlogs in the police
department, Mayawati stated in a Hindi post on X.
The
former Uttar Pradesh chief minister stated that the fundamental worry among
people is whether the 'Sarv Samaj' or all communities were properly represented
in the recruiting and if the recruits received enough training.
Citing
her successes, Mayawati stated, During my government, to ensure the rule
of law and justice in Uttar Pradesh, we created 1.20 lakh new posts in one go
and made police recruitment a transparent and honest process. The subsequent
law-and-order atmosphere helped individuals from all groups without prejudice,
something is badly lacking now, she noted. On Sunday, the Uttar Pradesh
government handed out employment letters to over 60,000 new police recruits in
the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi
Adityanath.
