Bhubaneswar, 17 June (H.S.) To provide an opportunity to the creativity and marketing skills of students at the higher secondary level in the state and to make them self-reliant, a two-day workshop was organized today at the auditorium in Krushi Bhawan by the Directorate of Higher Secondary Education under the Department of School and Mass Education. An initiative has been taken in collaboration with Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on “Journey of Mind to Market”.

In the inaugural session Smt. Subhashree Nanda, Additional Secretary, S&ME joined as chief guest, who expressed her belief that this workshop will help in creating a Viksit Odisha. Shri Raghuram R. Iyer, Director, DHSE, Smt. Smita Rout, SPD, OAVs, Dr. Elangovan Kariappan, Assistant Innovation Director, Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell , Dr. Jyoti Prakash Rath, Officer-in-charge Academics, DHSE were also present.

The primary objective of this workshop is to provide an insightful view of different dimensions of innovation specifically on Design Thinking, Idea Generations, Entrepreneurship and Intellectual Property Rights. There are 164 number of participants including 59 Principals/Senior most Teachers from PM-Shri Vidyalays, 60 Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) from different Government Higher Secondary Schools, 30 Post Graduate Teachers from Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya (OAVs) and 15 Number of Student Achievers of Odiapreneur, Hackathon Odisha.

This programme will cover different aspects such as, Design Thinking and Innovation, Idea Generation and Market Research, Prototype/Product Development, Invent to Impact: Product Formation and Intellectual Property Commercialisation, Interaction with a Start-up Founder, Understanding the basics of Intellectual Property Rights with special emphasis on Patent, Understanding Patents, How to File Patent in India (Student Edition), Kalam Program for IP Literacy and Awareness (KAPILA), School Innovation Council and Innovation Initiatives for Schools, Start-up Mind-set and Business Model – A Discussion .
