Kamrup (Assam), 17 June (HS): A smuggler has been arrested with marijuana during an operation conducted by the team of Border Outpost Guabari of 24th Battalion of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Rangia based on a tip-off.

SSB sources have said that the 24th battalion of SSB, along with the team of Gandhibari police outpost of Tamulpur district, conducted a joint search operation on the Indo-Bhutan border. During this, a person was detained with a large quantity of ganja and a bicycle from Talibari village of Tamlupur district in the Indian border, about 13 km from border pillar number 249. The person has been identified as Sunil Basumatari (55).

After interrogation, the SSB handed over the said person along with ganja and bicycle to the Gandhibari police outpost. The 24th Battalion of SSB is continuously running such campaigns to discharge its duty in the security of the Indo-Bhutan border and is encouraging the local citizens by holding regular meetings with them and encouraging them to inform the nearest SSB border post or battalion headquarters if they see any kind of criminal activity or illegal smuggling happening in the border area.
