17 June (HS): The police of Ghazipur district have frozen the total amount of
Rs 8, 91, 268 deposited in the SBI account of Afsha Ansari, the absconding wife
of mafia don Mukhtar Ansari, in Lucknow. Superintendent of Police of Ghazipur
district Irar Raja told journalists on Tuesday that the inspector of Kotwali
police station sought information about the bank account of absconding Afsha
Ansari, carrying bounty of Rs. 50,000, from the State Bank of India branch of
UP Civil Secretariat in Lucknow. After this, the inspector talked to the bank
officials and shared all the information. After this, the bank officials froze
the amount deposited in Afsha Ansari's bank account number 10223102494.
In
the police records of Ghazipur district, IS-191 gang is associated with Mukhtar
Ansari. A case has been registered against Mukhtar's wife Afsha Ansari in
Kotwali police station Ghazipur under sections 406, 420, 386, 506 for
threatening people, extortion and fraud. Also, the UP Gangster Act has been
imposed on Afsha. Since Afsha absconded, the UP Police have placed a bounty on
her.
