North Dinajpur, 17 June (H.S.): A Bangladeshi infiltrator killed his eight-month pregnant wife in Vipradangi village of Raiganj subdivision of North Dinajpur district and fled. The name of the deceased is Sarjena Khatun (21).

Locals alleged that Sarjena's husband and accused Sanfaraz Ali is a Bangladeshi infiltrator. He was living with Sarjena in the village since his marriage. According to local sources, Sarjena's mother works as a laborer in another state. On Monday morning, finding no trace of her daughter, she asked the neighbors over the phone to go and check the house. The door was locked from outside. As soon as the villagers broke the lock and entered inside, they saw that Sarjena's body was lying on the floor in a pool of. She was tied and there were injury marks on her head. Sarjena was rushed to hospital where the doctors declared her dead. Indian Aadhar card of the accused Sanfaraz was recovered from the house.

The question is arising that if he is really a Bangladeshi citizen, then how did he get Indian documents? How did he stay there for so long?

The police said on Tuesday that Sarjena met Sanfaraz about one and a half years ago. A relative of Sanfaraz lives at Soriabad in Raiganj. The marriage proposal came from there. He was living in Vipradangi's house since marriage. The girl's family alleged that Sanfaraz often beat his wife under the influence of alcohol. He used to pressurize her for money. There were many incidents of assault.

A member of Bahin Gram Panchayat said that if the youth was Bangladeshi, then his name should not be in the voter list. But the suspicion has become stronger due to the Aadhar card. He also feared that the accused may be involved in terror activities.

Vishwashraya Sarkar, inspector in-charge of Raiganj police station said, A person has been detained and being interrogated. The Police is waiting for the post-mortem report. The absconding husband is being searched. A relative of the deceased said, Sanfaraz had come from Bangladesh. He used to work as a daily wage laborer here. It is suspected that he had contact with foreigners.
