BJYM protests against imposition of Urdu in N-Tehsildar recruitment

Jammu, 17 June (H.S.): To lodge their resentment over decision of the Omar Abdullah-led Government to make Urdu a compulsory language in the recruitment for the post of Naib Tehsildar, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged a protest demonstration here today.

The protest was led by Arun Prabhat Singh, state president, BJYM accompanied by key district leaders, mandal office bearers and youth from various parts of the region.

Speaking on the occasion, Arun Prabhat said, “The government’s decision to enforce Urdu as a compulsory language for Naib Tehsildar recruitment is not only unjustified but deeply discriminatory. It sidelines the deserving youth of Jammu who have no academic background in Urdu. This move reflects the same old appeasement policy that we, the youth of Jammu, are out rightly rejected.”

“BJYM is the voice of the youth and we will not allow any policy that marginalizes our youth based on linguistic barriers. We demand the immediate rollback of this notification. Our agitation will continue – democratically but aggressively, until justice is delivered,” he said.

Addressing to the protestors former MLA Ashwani Sharma said, “This is a direct attack on the aspirations of Jammu’s youth. Imposing Urdu as a mandatory requirement is an outdated, divisive tactic aimed at sidelining our educated generation. The youth of Jammu will not accept this discrimination silently. I stand in complete solidarity with BJYM and support their every step in this democratic fight for equal opportunity.”

The protest march passed through key locations of Bishnah, with protestors carrying placards.
