Bareilly,
16 June (HS): Officials stated on Monday that two individuals had been detained
here on suspicion of connections to the hardline organization Haidari Dal. Kotwali
police station officers arrested medical student Jaish Ahmad and engineering
student Shanu on Sunday evening after they were suspected of disseminating
inflammatory content and inciting religious feelings through social media and
offline meetings, according to reports.
Manush
Pareek, Superintendent of Police (City), stated that both of the apprehended
teenagers were actively connected with the Haidari Dal. One of them promoted the organization through
social media sites, while the other organized meetings in his clinic. We are pursuing a more in-depth inquiry into
this network, as well as an examination of additional persons' roles.
According
to the police, Ahmad, a resident of Baradari, Bareilly, is a student at a
private homeopathic college who also runs a clinic near his house. Investigations have shown that Jaish
reportedly utilized his clinic as a gathering place for Haidari Dal members
from around the area to discuss group strategy. According to the authorities,
he was also suspected of giving financial assistance to the group. sShanu, from
Baheri, is a second-year computer science student at a private
institution. According to police, during
the inquiry following Jaish's arrest, Shanu created an Instagram page under the
name Haidari Dal. The police said that
the page was used to distribute stuff that was offensive, inflammatory, or
communally sensitive.
Both
suspects appeared in court on Monday and were remanded to judicial prison. The
Haidari Dal initially came under fire on June 7, Bakrid, when a video surfaced
of a group of youths assaulting members of a certain community in Gandhi Udyan
(park). In the video, males were shown
questioning young ladies from one group who were seated with men from another,
asking for their names, religion, and residences in an attempt to embarrass and
frighten them. The video was eventually published to Instagram and instantly
went viral.
Following
public indignation and internet distribution of the video, police initiated an
investigation and filed a case on June 8 at the Kotwali police station.
Two
suspects, Shahbaz Raza alias Sufiyan, a native of Mallpur Bhuta, and Sameer
Raza, were caught and put to jail. Other
suspects, such as Mufti Khalid (a Puranpur resident) and Riyazuddin (a Majhua
resident under the jurisdiction of the Faridpur police station), are still at
large. Police stated their teams are
aggressively conducting raids to locate and arrest them.
Meanwhile,
officials are looking into the sources of financial assistance for Haidari Dal
and identifying anyone who may have contributed to the organization.
