Nakkhighat area of ​​Jaitpura police station area, the police team caught the

injured cunning pickpocket Salim and his two accomplices during an encounter. On

getting information about the encounter that took place late on Sunday night,

ADCP Kashi Zone Sarvanan T and ACP Chetganj Gaurav Kumar also reached the spot

with the force. After sending the injured criminal to the hospital for

treatment, the police interrogated the two arrested criminals for a long time

in the police station.

ADCP Kashi Zone Sarvanan T said

that under Operation Chakravyuh, Jaitpura police team was checking suspicious

vehicles late at night. Meanwhile, information was received that three miscreants

riding a bike were about to come to Nakkhighat area. On this information,

Jaitpura and Chetganj police reached the spot and cordoned off the area. When

three suspicious youths riding a bike were seen coming late at night, the

police team signaled them to stop. Seeing themselves surrounded, the miscreants

opened fire on the police team. In the retaliatory firing, a miscreant got shot

in the leg, due to which he got injured and fell on the ground from the bike.

Seeing this, both his companions started running on foot. The police team

quickly caught the injured miscreant and also chased and caught the fleeing

miscreants. During interrogation, the injured miscreant was identified as

Salim, a resident of Delhi, and Sonu and Jasim. According to ADCP Kashi Zone,

the miscreants caught were also involved in the robbery of Rs 2.5 lakh from a

businessman in Chetganj police station area. Among them, Salim injured in the

encounter is a cunning one. He has been involved in many incidents of snatching

in Varanasi. Along with investigating the criminal history of the miscreants,

it is being ascertained whether they are associated with any big gang. Legal

action is being taken against the three.
