East Medinipur, 16 June (H.S.)

A passenger bus going to Digha and a container coming from the opposite direction collided head-on on Monday morning on Digha-Nandkumar 116B National Highway at Krishnanagar area in East Medinipur district. The drivers of both the vehicles were seriously injured in the accident. They have been admitted to Heria Hospital in critical condition.

As per information, at least 15 tourists travelling in the bus have also been injured. They are also undergoing treatment at Heria Hospital. After the accident, there was a huge traffic jam on the national highway for quite some time.

According to police sources, the causes of the accident are being investigated. On information, Heria police reached the spot in a hurry. Local residents said that the container was moving at a high speed. It lost control and hit the bus coming from the opposite direction. The front parts of both the vehicles were shattered in the collision.
