Guwahati, 16 June (HS): Assam Pradesh Congress President and MP Gaurav Gogoi on Monday reacted strongly to the summoning of Rajya Sabha MP and a senior journalist of the state Ajit Kumar Bhuiyan by the Chief Minister's Monitoring Unit of the government. President Gogoi said that the summoning of Rajya Sabha MP and a prominent senior journalist of the state Ajit Kumar Bhuiyan for investigation by the Chief Minister's Monitoring Unit (CM Vigilance) is completely politically motivated.
In a statement issued by the state Congress today, Gaurav Gogoi has said that the government has made such an attempt to suppress the voice of all the conscious individuals, civil society and intellectuals of Assam who have raised their voice against the corruption, malpractice and undemocratic actions of the BJP government led by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for the welfare of the common people and to protect the Constitution and democracy.
He said that if the government really wants to conduct an impartial investigation against corruption, then why does it not initiate an impartial investigation against the allegations of large-scale corruption under the Guwahati Development Department, Public Works Department and Jaljeevan Mission? ---------
