Cachar (Assam), 16 June (HS): Cachar police has achieved great success in the drive against drugs. On the basis of secret information, the police raided a woman's house in Baurikandi in Kachudaram area of Cachar district on Sunday.
During the raid, the police seized a huge amount of heroin from the woman's house. The police recovered 6 soap boxes filled with heroin, from which a total of 72 grams of heroin was seized.
During the search, cash was worth ₹16.23 lakh also recovered from the house of drug peddler Najma Begum Laskar.
Cachar Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta informed on Monday that the estimated price of the seized heroin in the black market is around ₹50 lakh.
According to the police officer, the drugs were smuggled from neighbouring Mizoram state for sale in Cachar.
