Bhubaneswar, 16 June (H.S.) In response to reports of diarrhoea outbreaks in parts of Jajpur and Keonjhar districts, Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has directed senior health officials and the respective District Health Officers to take immediate and decisive action.
The Chief Minister has instructed that all health centers in the affected districts be placed on high alert to ensure timely medical assistance to the public. Emphasis has been laid on preventive measures, including urgent purification of all drinking water sources in Jajpur, stricter regulation of roadside food vendors, and rigorous enforcement of food safety inspections.
To prevent the disease from spreading to adjoining districts, neighboring administrations have been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
Adequate supplies of essential medicines and medical equipment have been dispatched, and dedicated medical teams have been deployed to the affected areas. From the onset of the outbreak, a team of doctors from SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, has been on-site, monitoring the situation and providing treatment.
Health Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling is actively coordinating with doctors and officials across various districts, holding regular reviews and ensuring real-time response based on ground reports.
In a collaborative effort, a team from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has also arrived in Odisha to assist the state government in containing the outbreak and assessing the public health response.
