Delhi, 15 June (H.S.): The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) celebrated their first IPL win, but the joy turned to tragedy as 11 lives were lost in a stampede during post-victory celebrations outside M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Additionally, 33 people sustained injuries.

In response, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) established a three-member committee tasked with developing guidelines to prevent future incidents. This committee, chaired by BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and including vice-president Rajeev Shukla and treasurer Prabhtej Bhatia, will present its recommendations within 15 days. The decision was made during the BCCI’s Apex Council Meeting, which expressed deep sorrow over the recent tragedies in Ahmedabad and Bengaluru. RCB had secured the IPL 2025 title by defeating Punjab Kings in the final, and following their victory, Virat Kohli announced celebratory events planned for Bengaluru.
