Bhubaneswar, 14 June (H.S.): On the auspicious occasion of Pahili Raja, President Droupadi Murmu, Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Leader of the Opposition and former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, extended their heartfelt greetings to the people of Odisha.
Raja Parba, a three-day agrarian festival deeply embedded in Odisha’s culture, celebrates fertility, womanhood, and the rejuvenating power of nature. Marking the onset of the monsoon, it symbolizes the Earth’s rest period and is observed with vibrant traditions including swings, folk songs, special delicacies, and community celebrations.
President Murmu, in her message shared on social media platform X, stated, “With the arrival of the rainy season, this agricultural festival is celebrated across Odisha’s villages with offerings to Mother Earth and joyful festivities. Raja inspires us to live in harmony with nature. I wish happiness and prosperity to the people of Odisha and the nation.”
Governor Dr. Kambhampati highlighted the cultural value of the festival, posting, “On the occasion of the agriculture-based popular festival Raja, I extend my greetings. May the spirit of this festival continue to inspire all.”
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi described Raja as a vital part of Odisha’s farming culture, noting, “This festival reflects the deep bond between the people and Mother Earth. I extend my warm wishes for happiness and prosperity to all, especially our farmers.”
Former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, now serving as Leader of the Opposition, remarked, “Raja is a celebration of soil and womanhood, a festival that brings joy into everyone’s lives. Heartfelt greetings to all.”
Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo emphasized the festival’s spiritual and environmental significance, saying, “The first showers bring the sacred celebration of Raja. It honors the divine essence of womanhood and nature. May the festival renew our spirits and strengthen our cultural roots.”
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida also conveyed her greetings, stating, “Heartfelt wishes to all on Odisha’s special festival, Raja.”
