The DMK party has strongly criticized the Delhi government's demolition of the Madrasi Camp in South East Delhi's Jangpura, which left 370 Tamil families homeless. DMK spokesperson TKS Elangovan demanded that the affected residents be properly rehabilitated, emphasizing the need to protect the rights of the Tamil people who have been displaced. The demolition drive was carried out on June 1 to clear encroachments along the Barapulla drain, as per a Delhi High Court order. However, the DMK party and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin have raised concerns over the rehabilitation of the affected families. Stalin has written to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, urging immediate action to alleviate the distress faced by these families, many of whom have lived and worked in Delhi for decades. According to Stalin's letter, 189 families were deemed eligible for resettlement and allocated flats in Narela, but the units remain unfit for occupation due to incomplete essential services like water, electricity, and sanitation. Moreover, 181 families have not been provided any alternative accommodation and have been left homeless. Stalin has demanded that the government complete and hand over the EWS flats to the entitled families, fast-track community infrastructure, and provide dedicated transport services. The DMK party's demand for rehabilitation comes amid growing concerns over the humanitarian crisis precipitated by the demolition drive. The party has emphasized the need for immediate action to protect the rights of the affected families, particularly the Tamil-medium students and daily wage earners who are facing immense hardship. The situation continues to unfold, with the Delhi government's response awaited
