Kolkata, 14 June (H.S.): Two senior police officers - Maheshtala SDPO, Kamrujjaman Molla and Rabindranagar IC, Mukul Mia were transferred on Saturday, days after the clash which occured on June 11, 2025 at Rabindranagar and Nadial areas of South 24 Parganas district.

SDPO Kamrujjaman Molla was transferred to the state armed police as the assistant commandant of the third battalion, while IC Mukul Mia was transferred to Darjeeling district in North Bengal as the inspector.

However, “It was a routine transfer. A few other officers from other areas including Malda and the state police’s special task force were also transferred,” a senior officer said.

Nitably, the clash, sparked by an illegal construction and an attempt to plant Tulsi saplings on a pavement where a Muslim fruit seller operated led to violence, with 10 police personnel injured, vehicles damaged, and shops vandalized. Police used lathi charges and tear gas to control the situation, imposing prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the BNSS. At least 40 people were arrested by Thursday. Locals criticized the police for delayed response, and allegations of lapses are under investigation, with Superintendent Rahul Goswami promising strict action if confirmed.
