Over 81 Lakh People Benefited from CM Health Insurance Scheme: TN Govt


Chennai, 14 June (H.S.): The Tamil Nadu government has announced that over 81 lakh people have benefited from the Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme. According to an official release, a total of 81,33,806 beneficiaries have availed of the insurance scheme, with an insurance amount of Rs 5,878.85 crore. Out of these, 25,80,867 beneficiaries were treated in government hospitals at an insurance cost of Rs 2,750.28 crore.

The scheme has been instrumental in providing healthcare benefits to a large number of people in the state. Additionally, the 108 ambulance service scheme has benefited 79.85 lakh people, including 19 lakh pregnant mothers and nearly 14 lakh road accident victims. The state government has also set up new government hospitals, including the Kalaignar Centenary Special Hospital, and initiated programs like the Mother and Children Nutrition Kit and the Tamil Nadu Health System Reform Project.

The Chief Minister's Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme is one of the flagship programs of the Tamil Nadu government, aimed at providing affordable healthcare to the people of the state. The scheme has been successful in reducing the financial burden of healthcare on individuals and families.

The Tamil Nadu government has also established the country's second National Centre for Ageing at an outlay of Rs 151 crore. The centre is expected to play a key role in promoting healthy ageing and providing care for the elderly. With these initiatives, the Tamil Nadu government is working towards improving the healthcare infrastructure and services in the state.
