Guwahati, 14 June (HS): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is actively conducting anti-encroachment drive on railway land in its jurisdiction. As part of its commitment, a joint drive was successfully conducted recently between Kamakhya and Guwahati railway stations to remove illegal encroachment from railway land. NFR CPRO Kapinjal Kishore Sharma in a statement issued said that the drive was conducted between Railway Km. No. 8/0 to 10/0 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. The aim of the drive was to free the illegally occupied land to ensure safety, cleanliness and operational integrity of railway infrastructure.

Several departments and security agencies actively participated and cooperated in this eviction drive. The drive involved 10 personnel of Railway Protection Force (RPF), 7 personnel of Government Railway Police (GRP), 6 policemen from Panbazar and Fancybazar police stations and 20 employees of SSE/P Way department. The coordinated efforts of all of them resulted in the removal of 29 illegal temporary structures on Railway property.

The entire drive was conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner and no untoward incident took place during the drive. NF Railway appreciates the prompt and effective steps taken by all the participating teams and is committed to protect Railway land, ensure safety of passengers and smooth progress of future infrastructure development. NF Railway and its security unit are adopting strategies like public awareness drives, surveillance patrolling and strict enforcement action to prevent illegal encroachment. Passengers and stakeholders are requested to cooperate with the Railway Administration and report any illegal occupation of Railway land immediately.
