Chennai, 14 June (H.S.) : The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the results for the NEET-UG medical entrance exam, and the results have brought cheer to Tamil Nadu. Six candidates from the state have secured ranks within the top 100 nationwide. The top performers from Tamil Nadu are Soorya Narayanan (27th rank), Abhineet Nagaraj (50th rank), Pugazhendhi GS (61st rank), Hruthik Vijaya Raja KS (63rd rank), Rakesh AJ (78th rank), and Prajan Srivari G (88th rank).
The NEET-UG exam was conducted on May 4, 2025, and over 23 lakh students appeared for the test across the country. Tamil Nadu alone had around 1.5 lakh students taking the exam. The results show that 12.36 lakh candidates have qualified for the exam, which is slightly lower than last year's 13.15 lakh qualifying candidates.
The qualified candidates can now participate in the counseling process for admission to medical colleges. The counseling process will be conducted in two phases, with 15% of seats allocated under the All India Quota and the remaining 85% under the state quota. With these results, students from Tamil Nadu have once again proven their mettle in the competitive medical entrance exam.
The NTA has also released the all-India merit list, with Mahesh Kumar from Rajasthan securing the top rank, followed by Utkarsh Awadhiya from Madhya Pradesh and Krishang Joshi from Maharashtra. Avika Aggarwal from Delhi has emerged as the top female candidate, securing the 5th rank overall. Counseling for the qualified candidates is expected to begin soon.
