Mumbai, 14 June (HS): Maharashtra State Road

Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is poised to create five new regional departments.

A notification to this effect was issued by the Managing Director of MSRTC Dr

Madhav Kusekar, under instructions from Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik. The five regional departments have been

planned to decentralise the control and manage the functioning of the corporation

efficiently. The five regional departments will open their offices soon. The

pattern in Karnataka is being followed by the MSRTC.

The planning and marketing departments and their

committees have been closed on June 6. At least five regional offices for

effective planning and marketing will be started soon. The decision has been

taken as exercising control over the entire state from a single office was

difficult. The revenue was affected due to the centralised control. Sarnaik

said that the decision to decentralise the control has been taken for effective

planning, control, and coordination. This will also help in generating higher

revenue.
