Ex-minister Bachhu Kadu ends hunger strike following government’s assurance


Amravati, 14 June (HS): Former minister and founder of Prahar Janshakti Party Bachhu Kadu has temporarily withdrawn his hunger strike on Saturday. He announced that the agitation will be launched on October 2 if the government fails to fulfill the demands by then. He, with his workers, will barge into the Mantralaya on October 2, if the government fails to take a decision by then.

Kadu had launched an indefinite hunger strike on

June 8. On Saturday, Industries Minister Uday Samant met him and informed that

the state government is positively considering his demands and convinced him to

withdraw the hunger strike.

Kadu’s health deteriorated during the seven days. Kadu

said he has been getting messages from his workers and supporters pressing for the withdrawal of the strike. Some of them had launched a hunger strike with him. Kadu

said his workers should not suffer because of his agitation.

Kadu had submitted a charter of 17 demands,

including total loan waiver for farmers, Rs 6,000 per month for the disabled

etc. He thanked all those who supported the agitation.

With the withdrawal of the agitation, the proposed

road blockade on June 15 has also been withdrawn.
