Dibrugarh (Assam), 14 June (HS): Addressing a press conference organized in Dibrugarh, Union Ports, Shipping and AYUSH Minister Sarbananda Sonowal highlighted the achievements of the 11-year tenure of the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Cabinet Minister Prashant Phukan in the Assam government was also present with him.
Sonowal said, In the 11 years of the NDA government, the country has made historic progress towards all-round development. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has also done remarkable research work in subjects ranging from space research to climate change. In the last 11 years, 25 crore poor people have been included in the mainstream of development. Work was done by taking along all sections - women, youth, farmers and the poor.
He said that today India has become the fourth largest economy in the world and will soon be in third place. The country's water, land, air and rail routes have been strengthened. Northeast India has also witnessed unprecedented connectivity and development. In the last 11 years, Prime Minister Modi has visited the Northeast region more than 70 times.
He said that crores of people have got concrete houses through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. So far, more than 14 crore families have been provided with toilet facilities.
India has created a new history in sports. Indian players won record medals in the Olympics and Asian Championships with the support of the Modi government.
He said that instead of the politics of nepotism and favoritism of the Congress, the NDA government has given priority only to public service. The Northeast, which was once plagued by terrorism, is now experiencing peace and development. The Modi government has also started international waterways and electric rail services in those areas, which were never even imagined during the Congress government.
Sonowal said that continuous work is being done to make India one of the strongest nations in the world in the coming years.
