Lakhimpur Kheri, 14 June (HS): A man was arrested on
Saturday after being observed wearing a T-shirt with the words 'Khalistan
Zindabad' on the back, according to a police officer. The guy, Ravindra Singh
alias Ravi, a resident of Govindnagar village within the jurisdiction of
Neemgaon police station, was seized by police on Friday after a photograph shot
in Shahjahanpur went viral online.
Ravindra was working at Jeevan Prakash Singh's home, according to authorities.
Ravindra had to leave work early on June 11 to see his ill mother-in-law.
Jeevan Prakash offered him a T-shirt he had gotten from an Amritsar cousin, Rajveer
Singh. According to the officer, Ravindra and Jeevan Prakash were not aware of
the message placed on the T-shirt.
Ravindra apparently took the shot while riding his motorcycle in
Shahjahanpur. Police were able to locate
and apprehend him thanks to the registration number of his car. Following an
inquiry, Rajveer Singh confessed that he had given the T-shirt to Jeevan
Prakash, claiming that he had bought it from a local market in Amritsar without
recognizing what was printed on it. According to Circle Officer (Sadar) Ramesh
Tiwari, Ravindra was released after an investigation established that he had no
knowledge of the offending slogan and no ties to any separatist movement. However,
as a precaution, he was charged under Section 127 of the Bharatiya Nagarik
Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) (security for good behavior from those propagating
particular information).
