Maldah, 14 June (H.S.): Five members of the same family were injured in a clash between brothers over the boundary of a house at Sonakul village of Mashaldaha Gram Panchayat of Harischandrapur (2) block in Maldah district on Friday afternoon. All are undergoing treatment in the hospital. The injured include elder brother Ibrahim Ali and his son Mazarul Haque, daughter-in-law Anjara Bibi and Josnara Khatun, and a youth named Rabbani Ali.
According to local sources, there was a dispute between elder brother Ibrahim and younger brother Abdul Rahim over the boundary of the house. Ibrahim has already built a concrete house. Rahim was measuring the boundary by pulling a rope to get his house built. At the same time, there was an argument between the two families. Soon a scuffle broke out between them. Allegedly, Rahim and his family members attacked Ibrahim's family with sharp weapons. Five people were seriously injured in the attack.
They were rushed to Harishchandrapur Rural Hospital in a bleeding condition, while Mazarul, his wife Anjara Bibi and Rabbani were referred to Chanchal Super Specialty Hospital in critical condition. Accused Rahim and his family members are absconding since the incident. Injured Ibrahim said, We are six brothers. We measured the land and all built a house. There were pillars on the boundary. Rahim removed the pillars overnight. I was measuring with a rope today. I will get land on his side. When I went to offer namaz in the afternoon, Rahim and his family members attacked me with a sharp weapon. Five of my family members were injured. I have lodged a written complaint at Harishchandrapur police station. Harishchandrapur police station IC Monojit Sarkar said, The complaint has been registered. We have initiated an investigation into the matter.
