Mumbai, 14 June (HS): Three persons were crushed to

death at a traffic signal by a dumper in Mumbai’s Gowandi Shivaji Nagar area. Local

people held the dumper driver, beat him, and handed him over to the police. One other person was seriously injured in the accident. He was rushed to a hospital and is said to be critical.

Tension prevailed in the area after the accident. Hundreds

of people gathered at the site. Police had to resort to a mild cane charge to

disperse the mob, which had blocked the road. The local people then staged an

agitation.

Police are investigating the cause of the

accident and have installed barricades on the road. Forensic experts have been

summoned to help with the investigation.
