Dhubri (Assam), 14 June (HS): Following the instructions of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the police drive against criminal elements in Dhubri district has intensified. A total of 38 criminals have been arrested from various police station areas of the district since late Friday night.
State Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has also shared a post on social media in this regard and said that 38 people have been arrested since last night for the beef-centric case of Dhubri. He said that he is very concerned about this misdeed of Dhubri.
In fact, a situation of tension had arisen in the city after beef was thrown for two consecutive days after Bakrid in the Hanuman temple of Dhubri district town. In this regard, on Friday, June 13, the Chief Minister visited Dhubri district and directed the officials of the administrative and police department of the district to take strict action against the criminals. Also, taking strict action against criminals at night, shoot and sight order was also issued.
After the order of the Chief Minister, the police intensified its drive and arrested the criminals. The arrested criminals include 4 from Dhubri Sadar police station area, 7 from Gauripur, 5 from Golkanj, 1 from Agamani, 5 from Tamarhat, 1 from Bilasipara, 3 from Chappar, 5 from Saptagram and 7 others. Many of them are under trial in old cases.
In view of the seriousness of the matter, Rapid Action Force (RF) has been deployed in Dhubri district. The police has also called upon the common citizens to be alert by sounding sirens in the streets of Dhubri.
It is worth mentioning that objectionable posters were also put up by criminal elements in Dhubri in the mean time. This drive of the police will continue further and arrest of more criminals is possible in this case.
