Kolkata, 12 June (H.S.)

Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari has knocked the door of Calcutta High Court demanding NIA probe into Maheshtala incident. Shubhendu has filed a PIL in the Chief Justice's Bench.

There has been chaos in Maheshtala since Wednesday afternoon due to clashes between two groups. According to police and local sources, there was a ruckus between the two sides over setting up shops, which took a violent turn in no time. Many shops and houses were vandalized. When the police tried to control the situation, the mob pelted stones at the police. Several policemen were injured. The situation in the area remained tense till late night. Police patrolling continued in the area on Thursday morning as well.

In such a situation, Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly Suvendu Adhikari has written a letter to the DG of Police and the SP of Diamond Harbor seeking permission to go to Maheshtala. He said that he will also go to the Governor in protest against the Maheshtala incident.

LoP went to meet state police DG Rajiv Kumar on Wednesday night regarding this issue. But he could not meet the DG. In that context, Suvendu has once again raised the demand for deployment of paramilitary forces in Bengal i.e. Maheshtala. Not only this, he also threatened to disrupt the assembly on Thursday.

On Thursday morning, Suvendu said that an adjournment motion has been introduced in the assembly. If the motion is rejected, protests and demonstrations will be held inside and outside.
