New Delhi, June 12 (H.S.): The domestic stock market faced pressure in early trading. Although it began with a slight gain, buying support initially helped the market rise, it quickly fell into the red due to selling pressure. After one hour of trading, the Sensex decreased by 0.22% and the Nifty declined by 0.17%. Major companies like ONGC, Asian Paints, Sun Pharmaceuticals, Bajaj Finserv, and Dr. Reddy's Laboratories were up 2.09%, while shares of Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors, Eternal, and Tata Steel dropped between 1.87% and 1.01%. Out of 2,446 actively traded shares, 1,158 were profitable while 1,288 were in loss. In the Sensex, 9 shares were positive countering 21 negative ones, whereas in the Nifty, 17 shares were gaining against 33 losing.
The BSE Sensex opened at 82,571.67 with a minor gain of 56.53 points, peaked at 82,661.04, but fell to 82,254.56 due to selling. At 10:15 AM, it was down 178.39 points at 82,336.75. The NSE Nifty started at 25,164.45, reaching 25,196.20, before falling to 25,064.80. After one hour of trading, it was down 42.85 points at 25,098.55. The previous trading day saw the Sensex close up 123.42 points and the Nifty up 37.15 points.
