New Delhi, June 11(HS): The domestic stock market concluded today with gains after experiencing fluctuations throughout the trading session. Opening strong, the market faced ups and downs but recovered due to buying support. Ultimately, the Sensex and Nifty closed up by 0.15 percent. Significant buying occurred in the IT, oil and gas, and pharmaceutical sectors, while the automobile, metal, public sector enterprise, and tech indices also showed strength. Conversely, the FMCG, banking, consumer durables, and capital goods sectors encountered selling pressure. The broader market had mixed trading, leading to a decline of 0.12 percent in the BSE's mid-cap index, while the small-cap index gained 0.06 percent. Investors' wealth increased by over 10,000 crores, raising the BSE market capitalization to a tentative 455.53 lakh crores, up from 455.41 lakh crores the previous day. This resulted in a profit of approximately 12,000 crores from today's trading.
On the BSE, 4,180 shares were actively traded, with 2,233 closing with gains, 1,813 declining, and 134 unchanged. On the NSE, of the 2,610 actively traded shares, 1,436 gained, while 1,174 lost. In the Sensex, 16 of 30 shares gained, and in the Nifty, 28 of 50 shares closed in the green. The BSE Sensex opened with a gain of 81.30 points at 82,473.02 but fluctuated before closing at 82,515.14, up by 123.42 points. The NSE Nifty began at 25,134.15, fell under selling pressure, and ultimately closed at 25,141.40, a gain of 37.15 points. Among top gainers were HCL Technologies up 3.23 percent and Infosys up 2.20 percent. Top losers included Shriram Finance down 2.05 percent and Power Grid Corporation down 1.86 percent.
