01 June (HS): A special yoga session was started on Sunday in the series of
11th International Yoga Day (21 June) at Raj Bhavan. The theme of International
Yoga Day this year is Yoga for One Earth, One Health, keeping this
in mind, the purpose of this event is not only to promote physical and mental
health, but is also dedicated to awareness towards the environment and the
entire earth. This yoga session will be organized every day from 7 am till June
20 in the lawn of Raj Bhavan.
This
special event has been conceived under the able guidance of the Governor, the
objective of which is to increase awareness about yoga in the society and to
lead the citizens towards a healthy and balanced lifestyle. About 1000
participants enthusiastically participated in today's inaugural session. These
participants included students of universities, representatives of various
institutions, officers and employees of Raj Bhavan and a large number of yoga
loving citizens. Under the guidance of trained yoga teachers, everyone jointly
practiced yogasana, pranayama and meditation.
It
is noteworthy that this yoga session will be held daily till June 20. After
this, a grand yoga program will be organized in the Raj Bhavan campus on the
occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21. This event will not only empower
personal health, but will also prove to be an inspiring effort to establish the
message of One Earth, One Health in the society through yoga at the
global level.
