Bhubaneswar, 30 May (H.S.): Odisha Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed profound grief over a tragic road accident in Sikkim, where a tourist bus reportedly plunged into a deep gorge near the Teesta River. Preliminary information suggests that several passengers from Odisha were on board.
Upon learning of the incident, the Chief Minister immediately reached out to the Sikkim government to discuss coordinated efforts for rescue, medical assistance, and the safe return of affected passengers from Odisha.
In a prompt response, CM Majhi directed the deployment of a dedicated team of senior officials from Odisha to Sikkim. The team will oversee the well-being of the injured, ensure proper medical treatment, and facilitate the safe transportation of victims back to the state.
“The safety and health of our people is our top priority. We are in constant touch with the Sikkim authorities, and every effort is being made to provide timely assistance to the affected individuals,” said the Chief Minister in an official statement.
The Odisha government is also setting up a helpline to assist the families of those involved in the incident. Further updates will be shared as rescue operations progress.
