Guwahati, 30 May (HS): Torrential rains in Guwahati city along with various parts of the state for two days have caused heavy destruction. The entire metropolis has been submerged, due to which life has become chaotic. Heavy destruction has been caused due to rain in other parts of the state as well. Boats are seen sailing on the roads in many areas of Guwahati.
Power has been disrupted in many areas due to trees falling due to strong storm winds. At the same time, many reports of landslides due to rain are also coming. The situation remains most horrific in Jorabat, on the outskirts of Guwahati. National Highway number 6 and 27 have been submerged and closed. Due to continuous rain, the roads here have turned into a river. Also, areas like Hathigaon, Wireless, Chandmari have been completely submerged. Waterlogging in Lachit Nagar, Anil Nagar and Naveen Nagar has also increased the difficulties of the people.
Uzan Bazar, Beltola and Zoo Road along with several other areas are also flooded, leading to traffic jams across the city.
According to the current weather forecast, rain and stormy winds are likely to continue, so there is no hope of relief at the moment.---------------
