Lucknow,
30 May (HS): Police on Friday filed a case against Yogendra Mishra, a joint
commissioner in the Income Tax Department, for allegedly hitting and wounding a
colleague during an office quarrel, according to authorities. The event
occurred about 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Income Tax Office in the Hazratganj
district. Gaurav Garg, the department's
deputy commissioner, was brought to the civil hospital for treatment, officials
said.
Based
on Garg's accusation, a case was filed against Mishra at Lucknow's Hazratganj
police station under different sections of the BNS, including Sections 109(1)
(attempt to murder) and 121(2) (voluntarily causing harm or serious harm to
prevent public servants from doing their duties). There have been no arrests in
this matter so far, according to Ashish Srivastava, Deputy Commissioner of
Police (Central), Lucknow.
Mishra
stated in a series of posts on X that he was obliged to speak out publicly
about intense harassment, character assassination, and fraudulent police
reports filed against him.
He
said that he succeeded Garg in Kanpur in 2022 and discovered severe flaws in
tax investigations during his term. This
resulted in his hostility and a long-running vendetta against me, which he said
was now being weaponized by the police and media. Mishra said that Garg
verbally harassed and beat him on Thursday in front of senior officers. I did not retaliate, and the entire episode
was recorded on CCTV and observed by several senior cops, he stated.
