Mumbai, 29 May (HS): One hundred Anganwadis in Gadchiroli district will be reformed
as ‘Nandghar’, with facilities of e-learning. The centres will provide a nutritious diet to children besides education in the morning, and awareness
programmes on health and entrepreneurship will be held in the afternoon. The
project conceptualised by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will be first
implemented in Gadchiroli district.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed by Gadchiroli Zilla
Parishad on behalf of the Women and Child Development Department with Anil
Agrawal Foundation of the Vedanta Group. Zilla Parishad CEO Suhas Gade and CEO
of Nandghar Shashi Arora signed the MoU.
The project will benefit 3,867 children between Zero and Six years,
pregnant and lactating mothers. In the afternoon session, 1,134 young women will
be trained in job-oriented skills. The project will help in improving health
status of women and children and in ameliorating their economic status.
The project will be implemented all over the state in the future.
Training programmes for Anganwadi workers, health workers (ASHA), and
ANMs will also be conducted at the centres. Zilla Parishad will be the
coordinator for the project.
