Solapur, 29 May (HS): The Solapur Municipal

Corporation detected 56 unauthorised constructions in the MIDC on Akkalkot Road.

The illegal construction was detected during a survey carried out in the last

seven days.

Besides the illegal constructions, 382 buildings

without firefighting equipment, and 50 buildings used illegally for residential

purposes were also detected.

The survey was undertaken from May 22, following a

major fire in the MIDC premises. So far, 764 buildings have been examined.

Illegal construction was recorded in 50 buildings, and 600 premises were being used

for unauthorised works. Only 18 buildings had proper firefighting equipment,

while 364 buildings had inadequate equipment.
