29 May (HS): Taking immediate action in the case of rape of a five-year-old
girl in Zafarabad police station area, POCSO court judge Umesh Kumar on
Thursday sentenced the accused Khurshid Alam alias Mohammad Hamza to 25 years
of rigorous imprisonment. He also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000.
Giving
information in this regard, Government Advocate Rajesh Upadhyay of POCSO Act
said that the incident is of 27 April 2025. The victim had gone to the village
temple with her fellow children for worship. The children were playing in the
field in front of the temple. During this time, the accused Khurshid Alam
molested the girl. The victim reached her mother crying and informed her about
the incident.
With
the help of the villagers, the accused was caught and the police was informed on
112. Police station in-charge investigator Jai Prakash Yadav completed the
investigation within 24 hours and presented the charge sheet in the court.
Considering the seriousness of the case, the court completed the hearing in
just 26 days and gave the verdict.
A
case was registered against the accused under section 5M/6 of the POCSO Act of
the Indian Penal Code. After the amendment of the new law, this is the first
case in the state in which the culprit has been sentenced by taking such swift
action.
