Pune, 29 May (HS): In
the Vaishnavi Hagwane suicide case, her husband Shashank, mother-in-law Lata,
and sister-in-law (Shashank’s sister) Karishma have been remanded to 14-day
magisterial custody. They have been sent to the Yerwada jail.
The three were presented before the Shivajinagar
Court on Thursday. Police did not request police custody for them, and the court
remanded them the magisterial custody. Police, however, stated that police
custody may be required in the future for further enquiry into the case.
Meanwhile, Lata and Karishma have applied for bail.
Police arrested Santosh Dattatray Gaikwad for making
a fake call relating to the arrest of Nilesh Chavan, who is absconding and is one
of the accused in the case. Vaishnavi’s father, Anil Kaspate named Nilesh
allegedly involved in the case. Police are searching for Nilesh Chavan.
