29 May (HS): Uttar Pradesh's weather patterns will alter over the next three
days, beginning Thursday, with widespread thundershowers and rain forecast
across the state, according to the Meteorological Department. The prediction
for Thursday also forecasted severe winds reaching 40 to 50 kmph throughout
this time. The forecasted rains is projected to provide a minor dip in mercury
levels, providing some relief from the current heat and humidity. On Thursday,
a warning has been issued for 60 districts, predominantly in the state's
eastern and Terai areas, for high winds, thunder, lightning, and precipitation.
Light
rain fell in parts of Lucknow and neighboring areas early Thursday morning.
Since
Wednesday night, Uttar Pradesh has seen extraordinary weather variations. While
some places received thunderstorms and showers (Bijnor had the maximum rainfall
at 8 mm, followed by Kanpur and Hardoi), other districts suffered searing sun
and heavy humidity, resulting in uncomfortable heat during the day.
Nighttime
temperatures remained about 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above usual. Heavy rainfall
is forecast in isolated areas during the next two days, according to the
meteorological service, which also predicts thunderstorms in over 60 districts,
with gusts blowing up to 40-50 kmph and lightning. Thursday will bring partial
cloud cover and light rain, with thunder in some areas, as well as winds
gusting to 30 to 40 kmph.
The
highest temperature is forecast to be approximately 40 degrees Celsius, with
the lowest around 28 degrees Celsius. According to Atul Kumar Singh, a senior
scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre in Lucknow, the intensity and
breadth of drizzle and winds would intensify over the state beginning Thursday
and lasting two to three days thereafter.
