New Delhi, May 29 (HS): The domestic stock market displayed resilience in early trading today, beginning the session with gains. However, profit booking caused a temporary decline in momentum. Despite this, both the Sensex and Nifty indices remained in positive territory. After the first hour, the Sensex showed an increase of 0.22 percent, while the Nifty rose by 0.21 percent.

Among the key stocks, Trent Limited, JSW Steel, Tata Motors, Infosys, and Eternal saw gains between 1.58 percent and 0.89 percent. Conversely, Tata Consumer Products, Jio Financial, Bajaj Finance, Apollo Hospital, and Shriram Finance experienced declines from 1.15 percent to 0.72 percent.

During today's trading, 2,438 stocks were active, with 1,374 in the green and 1,064 in the red. Within the Sensex, 19 of the 30 stocks maintained positive momentum due to buying support, while 11 stocks were under selling pressure. Similarly, in the Nifty, 34 out of 50 stocks remained positive.

The BSE's Sensex opened with a gain of 278.71 points at 81,591.03 points, quickly reaching 81,816.89 points but later fell to 81,436.89 points due to profit booking. However, renewed buying interest led to a rise, and by 10:15 AM, it was at 81,488.39 points, up by 176.07 points. The NSE's Nifty also initially climbed, starting at 24,825.10 points and reaching 24,889.70 points before dropping to 24,779.70 points, ultimately trading at 24,804.20 points, up by 51.75 points. The previous trading day saw the Sensex close at 81,312.32 points and Nifty at 24,752.45 points.
