Chennai CCB Busts International Passport Fraud Ring

Chennai, 29 May (H.S.) : Chennai's Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested individuals involved in an international passport fraud ring. The operation began after immigration officials at Chennai International Airport alerted the CCB's Fake Passport.

The accused were attempting to obtain Indian passports using forged documents to travel abroad illegally. Four Indian nationals who aided the arrested foreign nationals are being questioned by the police. The CCB has seized fake passports, documents, and other materials used in the forgery.

The Entrustment Document Fraud (EDF-II) wing of the CCB is investigating the case. Earlier instances of similar cases show the CCB has been active in busting passport fraud rings, including one where they seized 105 fake passports and arrested individuals, including Mohamed Feroz Khan, for sending ineligible persons to Malaysia and other countries using fake passports.

The Greater Chennai Police has cautioned the public to be careful when applying for passports and visas through agents. They advise submitting all required documents directly to Regional Passport Offices and obtaining visas through the concerned consulate offices.
