Guwahati, 29 May (HS): Along with other parts of the state, torrential rains in various areas of Guwahati city at night caused heavy destruction. The rain that occurred at night submerged the entire metropolis, due to which life has become chaotic. Similar reports are also coming from Jorhat city where vehicles are stuck on the roads due to rain.

The situation remains most dire in Jorabat, on the outskirts of Guwahati. Due to continuous rain, the roads here have turned into rivers. Along with this, areas like Hathigaon, Wireless, Chandmari have become completely submerged. Waterlogging in Lachit Nagar, Anil Nagar and Naveen Nagar has also increased the difficulties of the people.

Many other areas including Ujan Bazar, Beltala and Zoo-Road are also flooded, due to which there is a situation of jam at many places in the entire city.

According to the current weather forecast, rain is likely to continue during the day as well, so there is no hope of relief at the moment.
