Nagon (Assam), 29 May (HS): Raha police of Nagon district of Assam achieved a major success on Thursday as part of the drive being run against drugs. Based on secret information, 20 boxes of suspected heroin were seized from a Bolero vehicle in the drive conducted on the National Highway.
The drugs were being brought in a Bolero vehicle numbered AS-19K-9648 by cleverly hiding it inside the back light box. The vehicle was going from Nagon to Guwahati.
The police team took timely action and stopped the vehicle and recovered the drugs and also arrested two suppliers from the spot. The arrested accused have been identified as Asad Zaman and Aminul Molla of Sarbhog area of Barpeta. Initial investigation has revealed that this consignment was being taken from Lanka area of Hojai to Sarbhog.
At present, the police have seized the drugs and have continued the investigation on the basis of interrogation of both the accused.
