Guwahati, 28 May (HS): Basishta PS with Jorabat OP of Guwahati have arrested a drug peddler in a joint operation. Police said on Wednesday that on the basis of secret information, the drug peddler was arrested near RP Hotel located in Jorabat police outpost area during a joint operation conducted by Basishta Police and Jorabat Police.

The arrested peddler has been identified as Jamal Haque (30), a resident of Garomari. The arrested accused was running a drug business while living in a rented house in Sixmile area of Guwahati. Two boxes of drugs have been recovered from the arrested accused. The weight of the drugs is said to be about 16.54 grams. Apart from the boxes filled with drugs, the police have seized 17 empty boxes and two mobile phones from the arrested accused. Police have registered an FIR in this regard under the NDPS Act and are intensively interrogating the arrested accused.
