Chirang (Assam), 28 May (HS): Assam's Panchayati Raj and Rural Development and Tourism Minister Ranjit Kumar Das chaired an important review meeting at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Room in Kajalgaon, Chirang district on Wednesday. In this meeting, the progress of the major schemes of Panchayat Bhawan Rural Development Department, Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission and Tourism Department was reviewed.

During the meeting, the minister expressed satisfaction over the effective implementation of flagship schemes like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin and directed to complete the set targets in a timely manner.

Reviewing the Chief Minister Mahila Udyamita Yojana, One District One Product and Setu Ultra Poor Project under ASRLM, the minister appreciated the increase in the income of self-help groups. He emphasized on further strengthening the marketing of products under ODOP. The District Project Manager of ASRLM gave information about the progress and market expansion in lemon processing.

In the review of the tourism department, the ongoing infrastructure development works in the Panbari area were discussed. The minister directed that the lodge construction work be completed soon and said that he would personally inspect the site after the construction is completed.

MP (Lok Sabha) Jayant Basumatari, BTC Vice-Chairman Abhiram Mahanayak, Bijni MLA Ajay Kumar Rai, Commissioner Jatin Bora, ADC, Assistant Commissioner and other district level officers were present in this meeting.---------------
